Agile Methodologies

Several methodologies fall under the agile umbrella, such as Kanban, Lean, Extreme Programming (XP), and Feature-Driven Development (FDD). However, the most widely recognized is Agile Scrum project management, which focuses on managing tasks within a team-based development environment. Each methodology tailors the principles of agile to particular project conditions, ensuring the most appropriate and effective project management approach.

• Kanban: Visualize work with cards to limit work in progress and maximize efficiency.
• Lean: Eliminate waste and focus on delivering value.
• Extreme Programming (XP): Improves software quality and responsiveness to customer requirements.
• Feature-Driven Development (FDD): Emphasizes feature "ownership" by individual team members.

• Scrum: Iterative development by self-organizing teams, with roles such as Scrum Master and Product Owner.

Scrum Framework

Scrum is a framework for implementing Agile methodology, characterized by cycles called sprints, usually lasting two to four weeks. It is designed to add flexibility, transparency, and focus on product backlogs, which are a prioritized list of customer-centric features. Scrum divides the roles into Product Owner, Scrum Master, and Team Members. Each sprint starts with a Sprint Planning Meeting and ends with a Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective.

Scrum Artifacts:

• Product Backlog: Ordered list of everything that might be needed in the product.
• Sprint Backlog: Set of items, chosen from the Product Backlog, to be completed during the sprint.

• Increment: The sum of all the Product Backlog items completed during a sprint and all previous sprints.

Scrum Ceremonies:

• Sprint Planning: Decide what to work on in the next sprint.
• Daily Scrum: 15-minute stand-up to synchronize activities and create a plan for the next 24 hours.
• Sprint Review: Held at the end of the sprint to inspect the increment and adapt the Product Backlog if needed.

• Sprint Retrospective: Team reflects on the past sprint and sets improvement actions for the next sprint.
