Tempo Capacity Planner
By Tempo Software
Seamless Jira Integration: This is the most consistent praise. The tool pulls live data directly from Jira issues and projects, ensuring that tasks, deadlines, and progress are automatically updated, eliminating manual work. It integrates seamlessly with Tempo Timesheets to create a "Planned vs. Actual" report for comprehensive analysis.
Capacity Visualization: The software provides a clear, real-time view of team workloads and availability. Color-coded indicators (e.g., red for swamped, green for balanced) help managers prevent overbooking and burnout before assigning new tasks.
Effective Planning and Forecasting: Users like the ability to schedule work for individuals and teams on short, mid, and long-term timelines. It allows managers to forecast team capacity months in advance using drag-and-drop features and supports generic resources for early planning before specific team members are identified.
Handling Non-Project Time: The tool effectively accounts for team members' availability by allowing the configuration of multiple holiday schemes, vacation days, and varying workload schemes (for part-time or geographically distributed resources).
User Experience and Complexity: Some users find the process requires "too many clicks" to get a task done. While designed for managers, the interface can be perceived as less intuitive compared to alternatives, sometimes requiring internal dedicated support for navigation.
Data Granularity Issues: A common complaint is that when time is broken out across an assigned period, it can be split into "odd increments" that do not fit the company's standard time increment structure (e.g., 15-minute blocks).
Roadmap Communication: One user complained that there is no clear communication about the product's roadmap or when problems/features will be addressed by the vendor.
